From Education
Teenagers may lack self-motivation and especially learning motivation.
[edit] Methods of resolution
A mentor could keep informed about motivational problems and educational problems of his or her protégés.
Mentors could organize meetings with tutors and cooperate with other mentors in order to find solutions for any educational and motivational problems. A mentor should know the specific interests of his or her protégés and may be able to motivate learning efforts by means of personal interests.
If a pupil had no personal interests that motivated any learning efforts at all that should be a severe warning to the mentor that he or she was either missing something or that the pupil might need to be introduced to new hobbies.[1] If a pupil had hobbies or goals that would motivate learning efforts but didn't make the connection by him - or herself the mentor could support the pupil in making the mental connection and following his or her own higher-order volitions, once clearly termed.
